Lazio officially announces the acquisition of Tavares

Lazio have confirmed the signing of Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares from Arsenal on loan with an obligation to buy.

Tavares joined Arsenal from Benfica in his homeland in 2021 and made 28 appearances in all competitions in his first season, scoring once in a 3-1 win over Manchester United.

Later in the 2022/23 season, Tavares was loan to Olympique Marseille before playing in 31 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 6 goals, Promotion ufabet while last season he was with Nottingham Forest but had fitness problems and played only 12 matches in all competitions.

Lazio and Arsenal have both officially confirmed the move for the 24-year-old left-back, who has joined on a season-long loan with an option to buy until 2029, with the Gunners also including a fee-sharing clause for any future transfers.

In this move to Lazio, Tavares will play with Matteo Guendouzi, another former Arsenal player who he played with at Marseille.

The Italian capital side have thus acquired the 24-year-old’s services on a temporary basis. However, Lazio will also have an obligation to buy that will be trigger upon the completion of certain sporting objectives as the club explained through a note published on its official website.

Tavares rose to prominence as an up-and-coming left-back during his time at Benfica, earning himself a prestigious move to Arsenal. However, the Portugal international struggled to carve himself space in North London so he spent the previous two campaigns on loan at Olympique Marseille and Nottingham Forest.
